As identical twins, we (Kate and Liz) have always been best friends and in 1997 we moved to Melbourne from sunny Mildura. In 2002 we graduated from Bachelor Applied Science (clinical Science) and Bachelor of Osteopathic Science at RMIT. For the next 10 years we lived in different countries, developing as osteopaths, gaining different and complementary clinical experience working along side other osteopaths, acupuncturists, naturopaths and homeopaths. Ever since our university days, we have dreamed of owning a clinic together and when Liz returned from her time in New Zealand we were finally able to embark on that dream and in early 2013 we started Eastern Osteopathy Melbourne.
From the initial stages of Eastern Osteopathy Melbourne we were lucky to have Dr Chloe O’Brien working with us. Together we have over 25 years of combined clinical experience, treating a wide range of conditions. Collectively as a clinic we have a passion for treating and supporting women through their pregnancy and the treatment of babies and children. We have a great understanding of the anatomy and biomechanics of the continuously changing pregnant body. This knowledge and understanding allows us to compassionately and safely treat and support you through all stages of your pregnancy.
We have also all competed at a high level of our respective sports of rowing and basketball/netball and suffered with injuries that have prevented us from competing or simply participating. These experiences, along with our knowledge of the human body gives us a personal and clinical understanding of how important it is to get people back to their chosen activity as quickly and safely as possible.
We’re all passionate about osteopathy and learning. Throughout the year we have been known to travel as far away as Boston or Switzerland or as close as Studley Park Boathouse to further our education.
Our logo is the symbol for Mother Earth, or Pacha Mama in South America. It is our intention as a business to minimise our impact on the environment as much as possible. We only use recycled and sustainable paper; our clinical notes are done on a secure network on the Internet; our business cards and brochures are printed on post consumer recycled paper using vegetable based ink by PrintTogether. Where possible we have purchased pre-loved furniture for our clinic. We aim to not only have a positive impact on the lives of our patients but the environment as well.
Chloe, Kate and Liz all grew up in the country, where community is vital. Community is still very important to us and we are committed to being a part of and supporting our local community (businesses, schools, sporting groups and artists). If your local school or sporting group is having a fundraiser please don’t hesitate to contact us about how we can help.
We look forward to helping you and your family with all of your osteopathic needs.
